To dine or Not to dine

I have to admit…sometimes it is nice to dine out! I swear sometimes even a mediocre meal can be fabulous when you dine out, JUST because you aren’t the one making it, hehe ;-). Honestly, I have been blessed in my dining experiences…I can probably count on one hand the amount of times I was less than satisfied with a meal I had out on the town. So, I can’t complain.

Just recently I went to a restaurant in Cape Cod (Provincetown) that was really good AND had a really nice dining setting. It was called Pepe’s Wharf Restaurant and had a really nice menu (and by nice – I mean simple…it is nice to get a simple menu once and a while). The view was fantastic as well! (click on the first picture below and it will take you to the restaurant’s website)

As you can clearly see, it was a gorgeous day and the spot we got on the outside patio/porch was just simply fantastic. It was a great setting for a good meal.

After browsing the menu and having the normal to-n-fro banter, “What are you getting?” ….”Well…what are you going to have?”….

I decided to go with the crab cake, which was Cape Cod style. Which honestly I am not sure what Cape Cod Style is, but it was pretty darn good. I am used to Maryland style crab cakes, which are absolutely TO DIE FOR! …despite being from the Midwest and being completely deprived as I grew up from any kind of good seafood…I will eat a crab cake any day of the week 🙂

The dipping sauce on the side, was pretty spicy…which I really enjoyed, I must say. Without knowing exactly what was in it, I think it tasted like a mixture of mayo, horseradish, and Tabasco. Not what you are used to when getting crab cakes, but was delicious.

Now, I certainly was not enjoying that view all by myself…so here is what my dining partner had. It was a “Margarita” pizza on the menu (which should have been Margherita pizza as I am sure most of you know. Wanna know some fun facts about Margherita Pizza? Of course you do! Its name comes from Italy’s Queen Margherita, who visited the Pizzeria Brandi in Naples. The pizza maker gave her a pizza that contained the three colors of the new Italian flag. The red of tomato, white of the mozzarella and fresh green basil  and was a hit with the Queen.)

This pizza was actually very good, I had to steal a piece! I mean come on! He had plenty to eat ;-). Extremely fresh and the crust was fantastic!

We had a great time! The food was just what we needed before running around Provincetown (which as I said in an earlier post – is an experience in itself).  Never pass up a chance to go out on the town for dining and fun…you never know what you are going to end up with, but that is the beauty of it!
