Good Deed, Coffee, Commute, & Lunch

Happy ALMOST Friday everyone! I had an interesting morning coming into work today, and for some reason interesting mornings always make me feel like it is going to be a good day. I am not sure why…but they do. Maybe it is because I seem to have the same routine every morning so when things go a little differently, it feels good to break from the mold. I am sure a lot of you know what I mean, you get stuck in ruts of doing things the same way every.single.morning.over.and.over.and.over.again.every.single.week.

So, I walk out of my house this morning….

I was running a little late this morning btdubs! I normally leave right at 7am, wasn’t happening this morning…which normally means that traffic is will be absolute torture, but we will get to that a little later ;-). I didn’t actually get out to my car until 7:10…

Yes, those are silly bands...

Yes, yes…I know that I am 25 people. It is OK to wear silly bands when you are 25! At least that is what I keep telling myself haha…and HOLD THE PHONE! I need a new watch! I didn’t notice that until I looked at this picture, look how scuffed up it is! haha πŸ˜›

Anywayssss…I walk out of my house this morning and see this little guy hanging out on the hood of my car…

Meet Leland

I am not sure why I chose the name Leland, it just felt right. He was just hanging out there just getting ready for his day, just like I was. He was really pretty actually. Every part of him was white except for his eyes, check it out…

Good Morning Leland

Leland was definitely not helping out my being late situation but I just had to stop and look at him. He was so cool looking and he was just so peaceful. Kind of made me calm down from rushing around knowing that I was going to be late. Since I was in such a rush after stopping to take photos of my new friend; I threw my stuff in the car and started up the engine. Then I had an internal monologue with myself, “WAIT! LELAND is out there! I can’t just leave him on the hood, he will blow away when I start to drive”. So, I got back out of the car and tried to get Leland to climb on my hand so I could put him on the rocks that sit next to my car.

No dice. He was not having it.

So then I thought, “well maybe he will climb on a piece of paper.” ::frantically looks in the car:: NO PAPER! haha, of course why would I have a piece of paper in my car?!? I just grabbed the first thing I could find, which happened to be a Paramore CD. Apparently, Leland is a big Paramore fan because he climbed right up on that thing! I put him on the rocks near my car and took a deep breath, whew! I was pretty happy that I got my good deed out-of-the-way so early today πŸ™‚

It is now, 7:19am and I am running late AND without coffee, SHOOT!

ahhhh, that's better! (reg. hot coffee, skim milk, 2 equal)

I was definitely running on Dunkin’Donuts’ this morning! For all of you Starbucks lovers out there, I do enjoy a Starbucks coffee every now and then…but I don’t live near one first off. Second off, it is more expensive than DD. Thirdly, honestly there is probably a DD every 5 miles in CT so out of convenience and just running late…I went to DD.

OK, it’s 7:43am (takes me about 35 minutes to get to work) and this is what I hit on the highway…

Brake Lights!

Oh, how I adore the commute in New England every morning. Now, this morning was particularly busy. It is amazing what a few minutes will do to your commute. For Reals! Not to mention that school is now back in session so there are more people on the road taking their kids to work along with school buses everywhere in the morning.

I did eventually make it into work haha, at 8:00am too! Which is when work starts and I was still out in the parking lot, hehe. Got to my desk at 8:05am. Not too bad. The morning actually went kind of fast today which was a good thing!

But now onto the important things…FOOD! πŸ˜‰

Black bean and Romaine salad

This was my lunch today! It was so delicious!

Salad Lunch Ingredients:

Black beans

Cherry tomatoes

Green pepper

Onions

Romaine

Tortilla chips (maybe 3 chips broken apart for an extra crunch)

Habanero Ranch dressing

Pepper to taste

*I tossed the tomatoes, green peppers, and black beans in a little bit of salsa before I put it on top of the romaine lettuce. The dressing is just a mixture of Habanero salsa and light ranch dressing. I only put a little bit on because the salad had so much flavor I did not want to mask it with dressing.

I hope you all are having a great almost Friday! I wonder what the rest of my day shall bring… πŸ™‚

Yes, Raven you can wear rubbery bracelets at any old age you want. And your watch looks fine. Honoring Little Leland’s life expands your own. And you have a terrific lunch to look forward to! All is well with the world!

Lucky Leland, I guess he landed on the right car. Oh, and the silly bands…I’m 37 and I fiind myself wearing them, but my excuse is that my kids hand them to me, and what else am I supposed to do with them???

    • RavieNomNoms

He was one lucky bug! πŸ˜‰ …and I think it is fun that you wear them for your kids! Anytime I go into a store people say, “Wearing those bracelets you either have to be a Mom or a teacher…” ….’uh, I am neither” haha. Thanks for visiting my blog!

8am IS early! haha, I wish I could come into work at 9, that would be so amazing! And, I am with you there on the coffee being my buddy…can’t hardly live without it πŸ˜‰

Awwww, lovely story, and I definitely agree with the name, Leland makes totally sense. The salad looks yummy, love tortillas in salads. Something crunchy. Have a great weekend hopefully Leland will be around when you get back. LOL

This has got to be one of my fave top 5 posts ever. First of all, there’s nothing wrong with wearing silly bands or whatever they’re called. They’re like the jelly bracelets of the 80’s! I wear them and I’m 32…my daughter influenced that. Nothing wrong with your watch, being scuffed means that it’s used and that’s what it’s for.

How cute is it that you named him! And that you decided to pay him mind, that’s always something I find admirable. Little good deeds like that.

Being that I live in what some call the coffee capital of the country, I assure you Duncan Donuts is well known here for their coffee. In fact, most of the people I talk to here prefer the taste of Duncan Donuts coffee compared to Starbucks. (Starbucks is a fashion statement here for the most part. Or the favor of the coffee is covered by flavors and milk!) I would be interested to try Duncan Donuts coffee and we have it here in the grocery stores.

I hope the rest of your day went well! And Happy Friday!
