Rainy Day

Welcome to Thursday in the Northeast:

Yup that means rain, haha! My area is expecting to get around 9″ of rain in the next 12 hours. Which means flooding and really bad drivers on the commute home today. For some reason in New England people forget how to drive when there is the smallest bit of condensation on the road. That is one of those things that drives me nuts. Yes, I understand that the visibility is low, but is it really necessary to drive 35 miles UNDER the speed limit? Methinks, no.

Anyways, it was so hard to get out of bed this morning. I am one of those people who loves the sound of rain when I am sleeping. So when the alarm clock went off at 6:00am this morning…let’s just say it took me just a couple extra minutes to get myself to actually “get up”…and despite what some of my co-workers think it was NOT because I went out to happy hour last night haha πŸ˜›

I love rainy days because they are such good days for relaxing and watching movies and cuddling with people/pets you love. I am one of those people who loves to curl up with a good book and read for hours and hours on a rainy day. I actually just started a new book, has been really good so far, I like murder mystery novels. It is called “Extracurricular Activities” by Maggie Barbieri. I am about 75 pages into it right now and I am really enjoying it. Today is one of those days where I wish I could make myself a hot cup of tea at home and read until dinner time. That is another thing that I really like doing on rainy days, cooking or baking. It is something to keep you occupied during the rain and it always makes you feel good to be doing something for the people you care about or just yourself! πŸ™‚

Since I am not at home and I am stuck at work, I did what I could to try to make the rainy day more enjoyable. I made myself a hot cup of Green Tea….

Yes I have a Penn State Mug, haha

That is my calculator. I call her clicky. I named her that because I am constantly clicking away on her keys during the day. Not really sure why I made my calculator a chick…hmmmm

It tastes so good, I wish I were at home drinking it under a blankey…but since I have to make money (it’s payday today!! wooo), I have to suffer through it. There is one good part, my desk is near the window so I can look outside and watch the 40 mile an hour winds push and pull the trees outside. Not that I do that during the day! I am constantly doing work at work! SHUSH!

What do you like to do on your rainy days?

I can’t believe there is THAT much rain in the forecast! That’s amazing. Total stay under your covers kind of day. Too bad it’s not saturday!

Well you sound very positive about all that rain and possible flooding! Here in Washington we see a lot of rain spread out over time. People also forget how to drive here too, it’s crazy.

I don’t prefer to drive in the rain because other drivers upset me, but I love to go to my parents house and hang out with them and whomever else of my siblings happens to drop by. It reminds me of years growing up and reading for hours and hours listening to the hard rain and trying not to worry about the river by their house. It never actually flooded over but each year I was afraid that would be the year! πŸ™‚

They have been calling for big storms here on Long Island and nothing happens! It seems like they always make the biggest deal when it’s nothing, and then when something really big does happen you don’t here about it until after! What’s up with that? I love the sound of rain when I’m in bed too! It’s so difficult to wake up on rainy days though. My favorite thing to do is to drink tea or hot chocolate and snuggle up on the couch to watch a movie. It’s even better when there’s thunder and lightning πŸ™‚

I love that weather forecast! I moved out to the desert (Phoenix) two years ago now, but still haven’t totally adjusted to the weather. I love watching movies, popping popcorn and drinking hot chocolate on rainy days. It’s been so long since I’ve had one though!

I LOVE rainy days, but I don’t know if I would love the kind of rain you’re expecting! Yikes!
I’m like you…sitting on the couch, being cozy…that makes the perfect day for me. And probably cooking up some comfort food.
